Artificial intelligence firm, Silo.AI, along with Finnair have created machine learning AI program that will allow for better prediction of potential interference to air traffic. This groundbreaking program can be utilized to gauge weather conditions that could affect flight punctuality. This way airlines will be more prepared for unusual circumstances.
Flight promptness is probably the most important aspect that impacts the customer’s satisfaction, and weather conditions play a big role in determining this factor. Now Silo.AI has provided an answer, making it a lot easier for Finnair be more organized when it comes to these influential scenarios.
Digital transformation lead for Finnair, Juha Karstunen, said, “We tested the artificial intelligence solution in the pilot phase last winter and the results were encouraging. The goal is to implement the solution as part of a broader technical reform later this year. We are also developing other intelligent solutions to support decision making. Exceptional weather conditions are common in air travel, and our goal is always to minimize their impact on our customers’ travel plans.”
The biggest private artificial intelligence lab in the Nordics, Silo.AI, creates their AI programs as consultancy services for numerous industries. In the experimental stage of the project, the firm used Finnair’s data such as runway capacity forecasts, as well as past and current weather forecasts. The AI program also comes with a built-in warning system that notifies when a specific amount of flights are likely to be delayed.
