Near Brisbane, in the Australian state of Queensland, the fire brigade has completed a remarkable rescue operation.
On Thursday evening they rescued a miniature donkey who had landed in a septic tank and almost completely drowned.
The 5-year-old donkey named Talou stumbled into the deep, narrow tank in Morayfield after he had kicked off the capstone.
The fire brigade rushed to the rescue and made every effort to save the animal.
During an hour-long operation, they pumped the tank empty and lifted the donkey out of the hole.
The animal got out of the tank without any injury and was rewarded with carrots by his owners.
“He was fine. We were a bit surprised actually,” fire station officer Scott Marles told the ABC.
“The owners had some carrots there … Other than being a bit cold and a bit smelly he still had (a) full appetite.”
