Have you ever wondered how much profit smartphone manufacturers make per device? Despite the fact that this is of course very difficult to give an answer because of all the additional issues, we can now give some indication with the OnePlus 7 Pro. This is because we know how much the individual parts are worth.
OnePlus 7 Pro 6GB: The individual components cost this much
The OnePlus 7 Pro has some high-end specifications, such as the 6.7-inch curved AMOLED display with a 1440 x 3120 resolution. It is also the first OnePlus device that is equipped with a 1440p QHD + display and a refresh rate of 90Hz. This is about 50% faster than with most phones.
With prices between $ 669 and $ 749 you would think that the company only earns a few dollars on a sale of a OnePlus 7 Pro device. The manufacturer’s margins must be thin, right? Wrong. A leaked image has revealed how much the materials that make up the device cost per piece:
As you can see, a OnePlus 7 Pro costs around 324.21 dollars. Of course this price does not include the costs for development, packaging, shipping and all other incidentalities. Nevertheless, we think that there will be enough profit per OnePlus device.
OnePlus x iPhone XS
It appears that parts of the Apple iPhone XS Max cost about the same amount. For example, the 6.5-inch OLED display on the iPhone costs around $ 80. Apple also pays $ 72 for the A12 Bionic SoC, which only saves $ 2 with the $ 70 which OnePlus has to pay for a Snapdragon chipset. But there are also some notable differences. For example, the cameras on the iPhone cost $ 44, which is nearly $ 17 more than that of the OnePlus 7 Pro. Although Apple, given that all components together cost $ 443 and the selling price is $ 1,249, clearly has a higher profit margin than OnePlus.
